Superior Recruitment Group are looking for a General Accountant for our client based in Aberdeen. This is a full time staff position.

The General Accountant is the sole employee under the supervision of the Country Finance Controller. The General Accountant is thus responsible for all the regular transactions and to maintain the accounts up-to-date. The General Accountant is expected to manage the full Accounts Payable process and play a key-role in Contract execution and invoicing by supporting other Project Teams and providing them with accurate data.

The General Accountant Reports Hierarchically to the Country Finance Controller, the General Accountant Senior is responsible of all regular accounting processes and Journal Entries plus monthly closure accounts.

Job details:

  • Manage the entire Accounts Payable process : verification and posting of the invoices, verification of goods/services reception, payment runs preparation, communication with suppliers.

  • Manage Accounts Receivable, including posting all Clients payments.

  • Assist Finance Controller in closing accounts on monthly basis, post all accruals and proceed with account reconciliation process at month-end.

  • Process VAT returns and deal with wider statutory accounting needs.

  • Provide full support during annual audits, preparing all required documentation and schedules and being the first point of contact for the auditors

  • Close collaboration with Cost Control and Procurement teams in order to support contract execution by providing the ad hoc information (part of the contract being “Cost+Fee”).

  • Maintain Accounting data organized and duly archived

Technical competencies required:

  • Accounting knowledge and good understanding of the UK tax system

  • SAP (FI, and ideally MM)

  • Good IT skills with strong knowledge of Excel

Experience required:

  • 4 - 10 years professional experience

  • ACMA or ACCA qualified with 4 to 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
