Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Dayshift Engineering Supervisor on behalf of our client based in Dalkeith. This is a full time staff position.
The client is a leading supplier of printed and converted flexible packaging materials to the UK and European food industry. Key business strengths include premium quality, flexibility and innovation. The group has plants in the United States, Sunderland, and Dalkeith.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Duties will include the following plus any other tasks and requirements that may occur as part of the engineering role.
Supervise, oversee and direct engineering staff in line with the Dalkeith Engineering manager’s direction.
Provide technical help to the other engineers with respect to more complex problems due to higher than average skill set.
Offer emergency breakdown response to production machinery and equipment and any other supporting equipment and services as required.
Carry out regular planned maintenance, as per the schedule.
Work closely with the Dalkeith Engineering Manager when there are projects in action, being responsible for design, specifying, purchasing and organizing installations.
Provide ideas and suggestions on how to improve all aspects of engineering on site.
Fill in accurately all records and documentation relating to planned or unplanned maintenance of the equipment.
Support and assist members of the site management team with regards to maximizing machine utilization.
Ensure that all mechanical/electrical repairs, plus maintenance to all services, machinery and equipment are actioned.
Closely monitor performance of all production equipment, note any problem areas or recurring faults, offer ideas for improvements and carry out any agreed modifications as necessary.
Ensure that all items removed from the stores are accounted for and relevant records are filled in.
Maintain a safe system of work and risk assessments throughout the course of day to day duties.
Organize external service engineers and contractors and ensure that all contractors adopt safe systems of work.
Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the companies health and safety procedures and statutory requirements.
Maintaining compliance with companies British Retail Consortium / Royal Society for Public Health and American Institute of Bakers Accreditations.
Actively participate in initiatives to:
Maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime and breakdowns.
Improve Health & safety in the workplace
Improve Housekeeping and hygiene standards
Responsibility for high standards of housekeeping in the engineering workshop and office area throughout the shift and completion of cleaning schedules / documentation.
Ensuring tools and cleaning equipment are returned to the communal toolbox after use.
Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
Previous supervisory experience is desired but not essential.
Must have a minimum of SVQ Level 3 and HNC in an engineering discipline.
