Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Hydraulics Engineer on behalf of our client based in Telford. This is a full time permanent role.
Overview:
This role focuses on all aspects of Hydraulic Systems across the business and takes responsibility for the Hydraulic systems through the design, production /test, customer installation and the lifetime of the system in operation. This is a wide ranging role that would suit somebody who is capable of working as part of a close knit team but that has the ability to make decisions and take ownership of their area of expertise.
Responsibilities:
Design of hydraulic systems, including preparation of hydraulic calculations, hydraulic schematics and component selection with a keen eye on timescales and budgets
Ensure best practice in all areas of system design, construction, testing, installation, and commissioning
Provide expertise and troubleshooting in the area of Hydraulics to all areas of business and provide direct customer support where required
HPU procurement (define functional/mechanical requirements, create: purchase specification/2D drawing/Factory Acceptance Test specification, review supplier proposals
Support supplier during production, conduct Factory Acceptance Test in supplier’s works)
Hydraulic cylinder and hydraulic manifold procurement (liaise with mechanical designers with respect to: sizes/materials/certifications /interface requirements, liaise with potential suppliers, approve manufacturing drawings)
Working closely with the workshop, oversee manufacture and testing of new, modified, and refurbished equipment
Support Factory Acceptance Test procedures and operations in the workshop, with client / third‐party in witness if required
Participate in design / technical review meetings to ensure the project requirements and objectives are met
Job Description:
Support the compiling of project documentation, including functional design specification, technical construction file, operation & maintenance manual from a hydraulics perspective
Outline hydraulic circuit designs and accompanying descriptions to assist sales function
Gather price information for tenders (sales support), new projects
(purchasing support), spares (new builds and existing/obsolete equipment) and upgrades/repairs (customer support)
Liaise with other disciplines within the business:
Mechanical Designers (pipework and equipment layout on machinery)
Electrical Designers (control and power requirements for all hydraulic components)
Technical Publications (input to O&M manuals)
Testing (input to flushing/pressure test specifications and machine FAT) •Purchasing (resolve supply issues by accepting alternative parts or redesigning the hydraulic system or layout as required)
Workshop (support installation and latest emerging assembly issues)
Hose assembly suppliers (immediately after pipework installation)
Project Manager (spares listings, customer variations, customer queries regarding specification compliance)
Service Engineers (during installation and setting‐to‐work)
Maintain good working relations with key suppliers, accept visits from representatives, keep abreast of product developments and obsolescence
Skills/ Experience:
Degree level in an engineering field and / or commensurate experience
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to enable effective liaison with colleagues, suppliers, and clients
Solid hydraulic systems understanding and knowledge
Proficient in the use of MS office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Teams
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
Experience of Inventor would be advantageous
