Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician on behalf of our client based in Saltend. This is a full time permanent role.
Primary purpose of role:
Part of the SCP Engineering and Maintenance Team completing mechanical maintenance activities, breakdown support and installation works for SCP and site partners. Ensuring all Mechanical maintenance routines, defect repairs and projects are completed safely and efficiently meeting SHEQ, business and legislative requirements.
Complete assigned tasks within own competence to required SHEQ, business standards and times including but not limited to investigation, troubleshooting, planned repair scopes, preventative and predictive maintenance, equipment installation and projects. When required seek appropriate technical or safety guidance from competent persons. Whenever necessary, stop the job if unsafe or unsure. Complete high-quality job reporting through CMMS failure reporting on the day of task completion (or earliest opportunity), lessons learned (particularly repeatable tasks - PM’s), and feedback to appropriate persons. Raise maintenance issue notifications in a timely manner via the CMMS. Initiate equipment registration requests for changes in equipment hardware and/or data resulting from maintenance activities. Assist maintenance planners and supervisors in identifying, spec and procurement of spares. Be a role model for core leadership values and behaviours, fostering the development of a diverse and inclusive environment, with a strong 'speak up' safety and operating culture. Produce/contribute to maintenance procedures, work plans, project documents, safety/condition auditing and contractor work scopes. Continuously seek, suggest, and deliver improvements driving quality of delivery. Supervise contractor personnel ensuring technical, SHEQ compliance. Work alongside other SCP Engineering, Maintenance and Ops to review RAMs and other SHE documentation. Maintain consistent SHEQ standards for self and others, following all site rules. Develop an understanding of why and how they’re applied with particular mechanical focus, delivering availability and reliability. Provide cover and support for roles outside core discipline in delivering continued safe and reliable operations and your own personal development. Assist the Operations team with out of hours call out technical support and support engineering and ops new employees and apprentices. Support the development of discipline strategies and concepts for achieving objectives using current & investigating new approaches. Present the role of Mechanical Technician in a positive, professional manner, taking responsibility for personal outcomes within job responsibilities and results.
Qualifications & Professional Accreditation
Essential – Time served mechanical apprenticeship, NVQ 3 or equivalent mechanical qualification.
Desirable - Professional engineering accreditation, IOSH certification, MEWP, forklift, slinging & rigging, overhead crane, laser alignment for rotating machinery.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Working in a 24/7 industrial process completing mechanical investigations, troubleshooting, planned repairs, predictive & preventative maintenance, equipment installation, fault finding. Working at height, rotating equipment, valves, and pipework. Working with engineering drawings & P&ID’s. Working collaboratively as part of a maintenance team, with other departments & third parties. Safely working to business, legislative and discipline requirements. Applying legislation in responsibilities: PSSR, DSEAR, HASAWA, LOLER. Using CMMS systems to complete reporting, trending, improvements, Identification, specification, and purchase requisition of spares. Supervising contractor personnel. Safe, systems of work: reviewing RAMS & other safety documentation. Understanding of Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvements in an engineering environment. Contribute to its delivery and maintenance.
