Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Operator Technician on behalf of our client based in Seascale, Cumbria. This is a full time permanent role.
Primary purpose of role
It is the responsibility of the Operator Technician to be responsible for the safe, efficient operation of running plant to ensure legislative and operational compliance.
The Operator Technician ensures the safe and environmentally compliant operation of the plant. To achieve this, the Operator Technician monitors, inspects, controls plant parameters, and makes operational adjustments where necessary. They shall be proficient in all aspects of power plant operation
As required, to provide start up and shutdown services in respect of plant systems and participate in emergency shutdown of the plant
To be fully conversant with safe working procedures and all site operating and emergency procedures, operating instructions and to have a working knowledge of COMAH regulations.
To be conversant with site Major Accident Hazards (MAH) and procedures
As required, performs process analysis maintaining and updating required documents and where appropriate suggesting actions and/or improvements Interpret and control plant operations by data that is presented via a Distribution Control System and general plant data
Following targets and operational decisions made by the Shift Manager, the Operator Technician monitors the operation of the plant, making adjustments to maximise the efficiency of the plant, minimise the cost of operation and ensure environmental compliance
To provide relevant operational advice and guidance to both other shift members and cross- functional colleague
Achieve Authorised Person status and under the direction of a Senior Authorised Person, to provide safety from the system
To be fully conversant with Safe Working Procedures and following relevant training, achieve and maintain Authorised Person Status, including Low Voltage authorisation Portray the role of Operator Technician in a positive and professional manner
Qualifications & Professional Accreditation
Essential - ONC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering or plant processing.
Desirable - HNC/HND in an electrical, mechanical, or related discipline. Time served apprenticeship. Boiler operator accreditation scheme qualification. IOSH Working Safely
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential - Relevant experience of working in and contributing to a continuous process / production environment. Working as part of and contributing to a team. Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Knowledge and experience of Plant SHE systems & procedures. Ability to create and edit Microsoft Word to a good standard. To have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to use Microsoft Outlook for emails and calendar entries/invites.
Desirable - Boiler, DCS or similar knowledge & experience. Commissioning. Working a shift pattern. Power generation operational knowledge & work experience. Experience of working on and contributing to a COMAH regulated site. Relevant experience of Permit to Work processes and procedures. Experience of Quality systems – processes, standards & application. Experience of plant monitoring management systems. Ability to create presentations using PowerPoint.
