Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Process Engineer on behalf of our client based in South Shields. This is a full time permanent role.
Purpose of the Role:
The Process Improvement Engineer works closely with the Technical Department and Production Operations team to plan and manage the transfer and implementation of a theoretical concept of a design or new investment into the manufacturing process. The incumbent will also work closely with the Technical Department in developing quotes for prospective customers by producing robust engineering solutions focussing on cost, quality, and delivery. The Process Improvement Engineer will be tasked with identifying and implementing system and process improvements that reflect World Class best practice, continuous improvement and in support of the lean manufacturing environment, this will involve practical interventions into the process and the provision of support to all site teams utilising World Class tools.
Principal Responsibilities:
The identification and/or generation of all documentation related to the integration of new products into the production environment
To perform analysis of part design characteristics, specifications and tolerances of parts, manufacturing process design, set up and tooling
Identification of subsequent changes to manufacturing and assembly drawings as necessary
Optimisation of processes to meet objectives of lowering cost and/or improving productivity
Assist in drafting and maintaining engineering and other technical files
Active promotion of process improvement to ensure compliance to industry standards and regulations and to secure the future business position in the marketplace
Attend meetings and contribute to project/production design review
Identify and design improvements for process and/or product for the optimisation of lowering costs and/or improving productivity
Design, implement and review Process maps/sheets for operators to ensure consistency of process, products, and parts
Co-operate in the product and process FMEA as a team member. Working with the design team on new products to identify lean processes and ensuring resources are available to facilitate new product manufacture
Promote and carry out World Class Training, identify training needs on World Class tools and methods
Participate in the World Class activities and policy deployment. Lead workshops, inform training (or organise training) and coach the teams in terms of World Class tools and methods - with the assistance of corporate teams when needed
Lead complex workshops him/herself or with internal assistance
Support the World Class projects and the organisation such as People, Innovation, TPM
Support the implementation of Corporate WC projects such as People, Innovation, TPM
Liaise with corporate WC team and communicate with other WC managers to provide information and share experiences
Any other duties that may be deemed necessary by Management.
Skills & Experience required for the role:
Education:
A higher-level qualification (Degree or HNC) in an engineering discipline linked to a time served background
Experience:
Experience of working within a medium sized manufacturing organisation with implementation experience
Jig Design, problem solving and report writing skills
Project management experience
Process engineering experience
Good knowledge of lean tools and techniques (5S, TPM and Kaizen) with implementation experience
Quick understanding of complex situations and implementation of corrective actions
Specific Knowledge:
Essential: Ability to create AutoCAD drawings and conceive an idea into an AutoCAD Drawing, Inventor ideally
Desirable: Precision Metrology techniques, electrochemical knowledge, Knowledge of 1-piece flow/Just in Time
Additional: Knowledge of corrosion resistant materials, welding knowledge (Resistance, Precision, Ultrasonic (Plastic and Metal), Percussion, Laser, Tig and Projection welding)
Business Understanding
Good knowledge of process control techniques in manufacturing industry.
