​Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Project Engineer on behalf of our client based in Renfrew. This is a full time permanent role.

Job Summary

You will be carrying out the execution, management and successful completion of technical and operational projects on behalf of the company.

This is a key role within the company as delivering projects on time, to quality standards, safely and to budget or better is essential.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Project Managing a minor project, multiple smaller projects or as part of a larger team under a Project Manager.

  • May be required to deputise for the Project Manager.

  • A full understanding of the project scope(s) including the Terms and Conditions under which the project is being run.

  • Management of and liaison with clients, allocated resources, sub-contractors, suppliers and third parties.

  • Set-up and maintenance of project(s) in company project management and accountancy software.

  • Identify engineering issues ahead of time and ensure solutions are implemented.

  • Maintain or better project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and problem solving.

  • Produce reports.

  • Management of change.

  • Ensuring invoices are issued on time and protecting company cash flow.

  • Reporting to Line Manager and Directors on the status of your project(s)

  • Ensure project compliance with Company Health, Safety and the Environmental Procedures.

  • Ensure project compliance with Company Quality Assurance Procedures.

  • Deliver project(s) on time, to quality standards, safely and to budget or better.

  • Meet client’s expectations and maintain good communication.

  • Zero HSE Project incidents.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good IT skills.

  • Lots of initiative.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • The ability to understand and explain design ideas and drawings clearly.

  • Confident decision-making ability.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines.

  • A good knowledge of relevant legal regulations.

  • Good team-leading skills.

  • Ability to identify problems and opportunities ahead of time and initiate the appropriate action.

  • Quick learner.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Higher level qualification in a marine or engineering subject.

  • Formal Project Management training.

  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager in a similar business.

  • Site experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience of large steel fabrications and project management from concept through design, detail, execution, commissioning and delivery.

Physical Demands

The job requires that you be physically able to

  • Communicate effectively on the phone, in person and via email.

  • Sit or stand at a desk and operate a computer via keyboard and mouse.

  • Travel to meetings in UK and abroad independently.

  • Safely visit construction sites independently.

Work Environment

  • Will be a mix of office and fabrication shop.

  • May require long hours.
