Superior Recruitment Group is looking for a QHSE Technician for our client based in Dalkeith, Midlothian. This is a full time permanent position.​

This dual health, safety and quality position requires an energetic, self-motivated person to take ownership of the company’s health and safety management system and provide active input to improving product quality standards. The primary H&S objective is to minimise occupational accidents and illnesses and maintain a safe work environment. Key activities to this aim include, conducting detailed risk assessments on a wide range of business activities, ensuring accidents and near miss incidents are thoroughly investigated and providing information, instruction and training on relevant health and safety matters.

The quality aspect of the position demands equal commitment and as well as routine, hands-on tasks such as sampling, testing, inspection and admin, each individual member of the QA team has a number of SMART objectives aimed at improving the quality and reducing rejects.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Strive for continual improvement in the company’s quality, health and safety performance

  • Conduct risk assessments of all company activities and ensure appropriate safe guards and controls are implemented to minimise risks

  • Organise quarterly health and safety committee meetings, maintain minutes and monitor actions

  • Conduct regular practice fire evacuation drills

  • Record accident and near miss incidents; conduct investigations and report health and safety statistics

  • Maintain stocks and control issue of personal protective equipment

  • Organise first aid training, lung function tests, audiometric testing and LEV / air quality monitoring

  • Liaison with suppliers, customers and site auditors; provide support on quality related issue

  • Check and record details of internal rejects and customer returns; assist in monthly stocktake of quarantined items; raise supplier complaint

  • Conduct checks throughout all stages of production for quality and compliance with customer specification; conduct positive release for specific customers

  • Conduct laboratory tests, including yield, heat-seal / lamination bond strengths, coefficient of friction, solvent retention and prepare certificates of conformity and analysis

  • Raise root cause investigation for customer complaints and internal non-compliance issue

  • Hold routine quality focus meetings with designated department(s); conduct trending on internal rejections and customer complaint and communicate findings; encourage operator input in identifying improvement actions

  • Monitor and maintain the site hygiene and housekeeping program

Candidate Requirements

  • NEBOSH general certificate

  • Internal Auditor Training

  • HACCPS / Food Safety

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proactive and constructive approach problem solving
