​Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Senior Instrument Engineer on behalf of our client based in Stockton-On-Tees. This is a full time fixed term contract for 18 months.

Primary purpose of role

The site Senior Instrument Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operations, through effective delivery of day-to-day routine maintenance of all Electrical and Control & Instrumentation systems and equipment. Effectively managing Compliance, safety, integrity, reliability, and commercial considerations.

Major duties

  • Provide Electrical, Instrument & Control support and engineering guidance to the maintenance and operations teams.

  • Effectively support the Maintenance Coordinator and contribute to the maintenance planning process. Managing day-to-day, emergent work and longer-term planned Engineering & Maintenance issues, along with EC&I project execution, balancing Safety, and commercial considerations.

  • Ensure robust Functional Safety Lifecycle management and maintenance of plant Safety Instrumented Systems and take ownership of SIF proof testing activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, corporate and site policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure robust management and maintenance of plant Hazardous Area Equipment, taking ownership of maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, corporate and site policies, and procedures.

  • Lead and manage small projects, via the Management of Change process from conceptual design through to commissioning and completion, including management of budget and resourcing requirements

  • Perform simple failure investigations on repeat equipment failures, developing change out strategies to maintain high plant availability, with consideration and development of obsolescence strategies.

  • Effectively manage assigned Annual Operation Plan budgets for the EC&I discipline areas, on behalf of the senior ECI engineer.

  • Supporting the Senior EC&I Engineer in the organisation, preparation, negotiation, management & evaluation of assigned maintenance support contracts, ensuring they meet budgetary requirements, reducing costs and managing risk levels.

  • Assist in providing functional design specifications on new plant developments or projects ensuring full compliance with all relevant standards.

  • Actively support the plant safety schemes such as Near Hits or Incident reports, providing support where required and actively implementing any recommendations arising from any such report.

  • Engage and assist in the Continuous improvement, development, and maintenance of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Complete the responsibilities of EC&I Outage Co-ordinator in planned or unscheduled shutdowns ensuring all EC&I works are completed in a timely, safe, and efficient manner through the planning of EC&I work scope.

  • Remain up to date and conversant with EC&I maintenance & engineering best practices, Industry standards, trends, and statutory requirements, specifically BSEN 60508,61511, BSEN60079, HSE-OG-0086.

  • In line with both internal & external compliance requirements, undertake assigned audits, communicating outcomes & supporting & driving action points.

  • Act as a central point of contact & information hub for other departments on designated matters.

  • Contribute to E&M & EC&I meetings, team objectives and review policies & procedures as required.

  • Portray the position of EC&I Engineer in a positive & professional manner & establish strong, effective relationships with all members of the EC&I Department and it’s key customers
