​Superior Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Works Manager on behalf of our client based in Glasgow. This is a full time staff role.

Purpose of the role

The purpose of the Works Manager is to support the Operations manager to manage all workshop activities across both the Glasgow 1 & 2 facilities with a strong focus on Health and Safety, Quality, procedural adherence and workmanship.

Responsibilities are detailed in the section below, but due to the nature of the role these may change over time, dependent on department and company priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a high level of Health, safety and quality culture across the workshop teams

  • Play a key leadership role in further developing the team to focus on what is necessary for the organisation to achieve its overall goals within the workshop, to drive business growth and to provide ongoing direction, support, coaching and mentoring to the workshop to achieve the business goals.

  • Safe and cost effective management of the fluid power and process control assembly and test area, hose assembly workshop, welding services, goods in. trade counter and storage and distribution functions.

  • Co-ordinate and manage all workshop requirements across both the Glasgow 1 & 2 facilities

  • Collaborate with key managers throughout the organisation in pursuit of the Group’s overall Business Development, Market Positioning, Sales Growth and Brand Development objectives.

  • Establish and cement strong relationships at appropriate management levels within our existing key customers, key target customers, relevant industry trade groups and broader key stakeholder groups.

  • Communicate with Design Engineers and relay job pack detail, drawings and specific specification detail to assembly technicians

  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with production colleagues throughout the organisation to ensure effective transfer of lessons learned and development of best practices.

  • Line Management responsibility for the production areas to ensure maximum utilization of the facility and on time delivery of high quality products.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Vocational Qualification (e.g. HND or equivalent) in workshop management or similar discipline.

  • Previous managerial experience in a workshop/service facility environment. With a strong understanding of all allied Mechanical Engineering disciplines

  • Proven track record of delivering quality product on or ahead of time and budget.

  • Experience of business process development in a related industry.

  • Team leader with good communication and people skills

  • Proven organiser with strong motivational skills.
